The National Cherry Blossom Festival is held annually in the District of Columbia, celebrating the peak of the stunning Japanese trees’ season.
Thankfully, it is peak Jacaranda season as well! These trees blossom purple buds which blossom then drop lightly to the ground, turning the streets into a beautiful flower carpet. The Jacaranda is native to Mexico, South America, Cuba, Jamaica, and the Bahamas to name a few. Below is a Los Angeles Times article featuring a diagram which details features of the plant:
Thankfully, the periwinkle trees have become a local commodity throughout Orange County. Today, as i was driving through Santa Ana then Tustin, i noticed their prevalence in neighborhoods, so i snapped a pic (this article’s featured image). Jacarandas are scattered along sidewalks which run along roads of cities.
Perhaps you’ll attend a Los Angeles Cherry Blossom Festival or notice some Jacarandas as you’re going about your day.
